Believe it or not, the EYC Lights Parade is an all volunteer event. We’ve pulled it off these last 42 years thanks to the generosity of sponsors and friends that believe in us and the magical night.

This year we are thrilled to donate parade proceeds to EYC Foundation. EYCF inspires and supports hundreds of local diverse and underrepresented youth through annual programs like STEM on the Water for 5th graders, a high school Marine & Maritime Career Expo, Marine & Maritime Scholarships to trade schools and colleges, and Junior Sailing Scholarships for 8 – 13 year olds.

When you or your company pledge to be a Lights Parade sponsor, you help us light up Annapolis for one sparking night in front of tens of thousands of happy people AND help the Foundation support today’s youth in life-changing ways.

The Sam Sheeder Scholarship Fund honors the life and spirit of Sam Sheeder – a young man who loved the water and embodied resilience, kindness, and adventure. Sam faced challenges in life, yet his determination and heart touched everyone who knew him. His story is an inspiration about overcoming adversity, second chances and how support from others can be life changing.
This new fund will become part of EYC Foundation’s existing Marine & Maritime Scholarship Program that currently awards $4000/school year to trade school and college students pursuing careers in the marine and maritime world. This fund seeks to support students that embody Sam’s spirit and may need help pursuing their dreams.
Sam was the beloved son and stepson of EYC members, Frank and Nancy Sheeder that are honored to serve as Chairs of this year’s Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade. They invite you to join them in celebrating Sam’s life by supporting this scholarship fund that will help turn challenges into opportunities and keep Sam’s legacy alive in the community and on the water.
